## What it is

Agentic Budgeting is Aleph's budgeting workflow run by the Aleph Agent. Aleph already holds the data and context behind a company's plan: actuals from the ERP, headcount from the HRIS, spend from cards and billing, the chart of accounts, mappings, and dimensions. Agents use that context to work directly with budget owners in Slack, spreadsheets, and chat, while finance keeps every judgment call.

## How it works

### 1. Start with a baseline instead of a blank template

Agents build a starting point for each budget owner from your connected systems: actuals, chart of accounts, mappings, and existing financial structure. In the example on the page, the agent reads NetSuite (P&L), Ramp (card transactions), and Rippling (headcount), normalises all three to one chart of accounts, and posts an FY26 baseline workbook back into Slack.

### 2. Turn Slack conversations into budget updates

Agents collect inputs and answer questions on their own in Slack. Finance is only pulled in when necessary. A hiring manager says "We're adding two engineers to the FY27 plan"; the agent asks for the levels, looks up level salaries in Rippling, confirms them, and adds the fully loaded cost to the plan.

### 3. See what changed and why

Every update syncs to one live plan with the context behind each decision. Finance sees what moved, why it moved, who moved it, and where every submission stands: departments in, planned FTEs, variance to guidance, plan deadline, and a running log of changes with the person and conversation behind each.
